Clean Windows, Hummingbirds and Beads

Spring sits just outside my office window, but I can hardly see it because my windows are so dirty. There were hummingbirds at the feeders, but they weren't drinking. I went out to check and the feeders were filthy. So I washed and refilled them and was rewarded right away with a thirsty little chap with a ruby scarf. I remember grandma doing her spring cleaning. Does anyone do that anymore? Leave a comment if you do. Tomorrow I am washing windows!

The Crabapples are beginning to bloom, along with many other spring flowers.

Although the Hellebores were in their prime a couple of weeks ago, they still look luscious.

This Cornus has beautiful foliage and it's leaves sit like little fairies on the branches.

I've been beading quite a bit. I go to a Beading Circle every Tuesday night. It's a great feeling to belong to a group of like-minded women.
This feathered and beaded hairclip is one of the projects I just finished.

My daughter and I both love peacock colors and I've made a number of brooches in these colors for my Etsy shop.

Shalyhn, our belly dancing friend is my model for my beaded medallions. She dances so beautifully, but is shy. Why can't we see the creativity and beauty within us? Who came up with this habit of second-guessing ourselves? We need to find them and have a tar and feathering!

Cindee ~ You do beautiful work. I love the brooch with peacock feather colors. I'd love to be able to belly dance. It is a beautiful way to dance.

It really is amazing how we have a hard time seeing the creativity and beauty within us. A lot of times it's because of things said to us or that we were taught when we were younger.

We need to break free and fly.

yes, I have been washing windows and you probably have hit on the real reason why spring cleaning is so important- you have to be able to see all the flowers and fruit trees starting to bloom- I washed my windows last weekend.
And thanks too Cindee for putting some photos of my art on your blog. Love your photo of the Cornus!

Oh, my gosh that Celtic brooch second from the end? It's incredible! Those are my colours, and that's my heritage (half, the other half being Huguenot, protestant french). The tattoo I got on my ankle duing a trip to Kansas city? A cat, done in Celtic design. Guess I'd better rattle some payments owing, as I think I really need that! You'll be happy to know that I have forsythia...indoors. But if this weather continues, we'll have outdoor bud break soon.

It is very important that your hummingbird feeders remain clean. It is recommended that the feeder be cleaned every three to five days, more often if the temperature is extremely hot in order to prevent the nectar solution from spoiling. Spoiled nectar solution can drive the hummingbirds away from your yard because they no longer trust your food source and it will be hard to entice them back to your yard.

An easy way to clean the feeder to place it in your dishwasher and let it be cleaned whenever you run it. You can also use a solution of diluted bleach and water or even vinegar and water.

Window washing usually gets postponed till the days turn hot. Spring means it's time to work outside, and indoor chores have to wait till a rainy day. I did clean my birdbaths today, and I cleaned out birdhouses earlier so nesting birds would have fresh homes.

Hello, just found your blog (or re-found after having briefly popped in once before and then lost where I was) via Jodi at Bloomingwriter. Your beadwork is just beautiful - I do love the blue/green peacock coloured one!

Hi Cindee~~ So much talent! And check out those hellebores. Spring cleaning... sounds good on paper. In my more idealistic, must-do-it-or-somebody-might-think-you're-less-than-perfect phase, spring cleaning was a personal mandate. Now you could say I don't give a rip.

Your windows look very nice. You can come over and do mine now, thank you very much. LOL
